COVID POLICY
The safety of your children, their friends and all the families they go home to each day is our number one priority. To help protect all students (vaccinated or unvaccinated), Moment of Change programs require all students must wear a mask while indoors and when engaging in outdoor sports that require students to be closer than 6 feet apart. This policy will remain enforced until December 31, 2021, at which time we will review the policy.
At Moment of Change, we respect every parents choice and understand that our mask requirement may not align with your families views and policies. While we would love to have you join us this year, we understand that you may choose to join another program that does not enforce the same protective measures as MOC. Each family must make the best decision for their children and we welcome anyone into our programs that understands the mask requirement is mandatory until further notice.
Q & A:
Why is Moment of Change enforcing a mask policy if the CDC says vaccinated people can return to public places without a mask? Moment of Change did not make this decision lightly. There were several factors that were taken into consideration. Most importantly that our programs welcomes children from grades K-12th into our buildings and programs. The vaccine is NOT currently available to all these students for a variety of reasons such as age. Our program attendees share a variety of hallways and surfaces throughout the building on a regular bases increasing the risk of spreading COVID19. Our board meet and found that research supports that with regular cleaning of surfaces, maintaining a distance of 6 feet and wearing mask are the best measures to protect our students and their families. Our goal is to keep all MOC programs open and an outbreak of COVID could lead to our programs that many families depend on for after-school and academic support could shut down unexpectedly. We thank you and your families for supporting our goal to keep the programs open and keeping our staff/students and their families as safe as possible.
My child really wants to stay in the program but our whole family is vaccinated and we do not feel like we should be forced to wear a mask. If I can prove the vaccine, can my child attend without a mask? Our staff is vaccinated, many of the other parents and children who qualify for vaccinations are also vaccinated and we understand that a mask requirement may seem frustrating to those individuals however our goal is to protect everyone and we are taking all the measures possible to do our part to prevent the spread into any MOC members household. We would love for your child to stay in the program but we would never force anyone to do something. Being a part of the MOC programs is a choice but choosing the program does require that all participants follow the rules in place. These rules include anti-bully policies, program participation policies as well as a mask policy. All policies are a part of our program and all participants must adhere to these policies. Please consider looking in your current area as there are many amazing programs that do not have a mask policy. While we do not want to lose any families, we also do not want any family to be a part of the program if they are not supportive of the policies. Our goal is to protect, be a part of stopping the spread and to keep our programs open without a COVID outbreak that so many other schools and programs have endured since re-opening.
Do you have any programs that do not require mask? Yes, our outdoor sporting programs where athletes can stay at 6 feet apart. Some of these programs include tennis, golf, volleyball, dance, pom, track and field (some sports). Please check with your local program director for more information. Do not forget about our variety of online programs we offer, which of course have zero mask requirement.
